Selected work

Real work, real businesses.

A site only matters if it does something for the business behind it. Here is what that looks like.

RMON Networks · Managed IT & cybersecurity · NH, ME & MA since 2002

A serious IT team, behind a template that didn’t show it.

One note up front: RMON is where our founder runs IT. We built the site as their studio, and knowing the business from the inside is part of what made it work.

The old RMON Networks website: a dated vendor template with a rotating banner over a stock skyline and orange icon grids.
The rebuilt RMON Networks website: a modern, fast site led by real photos of the team and one clear consult call to action.

Their old vendor-built template. A rotating banner and a stock skyline.

The before

A dated template from an outside vendor, built years ago. A rotating banner over a stock skyline, orange icon grids, the same 2010s-MSP look as every competitor. For a firm that has run IT since 2002 and holds security credentials most local shops never earn, the old site quietly undersold them.

What we did

We rebuilt it from the ground up as a modern, headless site: Astro for speed, Storyblok so their own team can edit it. Real photos of the people who actually answer the phone, one clear next step, and answer-first content and structure that both Google and AI search reward. Everything they had earned, since 2002, Microsoft Solutions Partner, a 4.9 review score, finally leads the page.

The result

Cloudflare already kept the old site fast, so this was never about a speed number. The honest before-and-after is craft, trust, and findability: a site that reads as capable as the team behind it, that answers the questions buyers actually ask so answer engines can quote it, and that trades a layout-shifting rotating slider for a stable, mobile-first hero. Rankings and consult bookings take time to build. We measure those, and we will publish the real numbers here as they come in. Never invented.

Great Bay Landscaping · Seacoast and Tri-City NH

Great work, and a website that didn’t show it.

Great Bay Landscaping's previous website: a generic GoDaddy builder template with a stock photo, a repeated headline, and a gallery that did not reliably load.
Great Bay Landscaping's redesigned website: a modern, fast site with their real before-and-after photos front and center and a clear quote call to action.

Their old website-builder page. A stock photo and a sentence repeated a few times.

The before

A generic website-builder page. A stock photo up top, the same sentence repeated, and a “Past Work” gallery that didn’t reliably load. None of it looked like the quality they actually deliver in the field.

What we did

We rebuilt it as a modern site that puts their real before-and-after photos front and center, loads fast on a phone from someone’s driveway, and makes getting a quote the obvious next step. Quote requests go straight to the owner’s inbox, through a form we run ourselves.

The result

Measured on launch: the new site scores 92/100 on Google’s mobile performance test and is usable in about 3 seconds on a phone. The old builder page scored 78/100. Quote requests, calls, and search ranking take longer to accumulate. We measure those too, and we’ll publish the real numbers here as they come in. Never invented.

World Within Games · ERA, a historical card game · Product launch site

A review was coming, and there was nowhere for it to land.

The World Within Games product page for ERA: the angled box render on the right, the spec strip and a buy button on the left, on a dark vitrine background.
The product page. No site existed before this one.

The brief

World Within Games makes ERA, an expandable card game where each 60-card deck is a historical era and any era can play any other. A top-tier reviewer had the game and a review was due any day, with no date attached. The domain was registered and had never pointed anywhere. Steve needed a product page and an About page that a wave of hobby gamers could land on and preorder from, and he needed it before the review, not after.

What we did

Two pages, built in Astro and served static from Cloudflare, on a preview URL for his review the next day and live on his domain two days after the contract started. The spec strip (2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, 30 to 90 minutes) reads straight off the box. One buy button, pointed at BackerKit now, with Amazon wired in behind it for the day that listing goes live. The “Real Customer Reviews” section quotes BoardGameGeek posts we checked character by character against the source before they went up, and Steve confirmed in writing that none of them were paid for. He owns the domain, the code, and the site. We host the first month, and moving it into his own account is an afternoon’s work, which the README tells him how to do.

The result

Live on worldwithingames.com two days after the contract began, closed in ten, with eracardgame.com redirecting to it. Preorders happen on BackerKit, not on this page, so we don’t have a click number to publish and won’t invent one. What we can say is that the page was up before the review was, which was the whole job.

Castine · Commission management software for asset managers and brokers

Two audiences, sixty-eight articles and episodes, and a WordPress site that treated them all the same.

Castine's previous WordPress site: a full-screen photo of the Manhattan skyline behind a centered headline and three dense paragraphs of text.
The rebuilt Castine website: a light page with a serif headline, a short introduction and a Book a demo button beside the red and blue sail mark, above a dark band of client numbers.

Their WordPress site: Elementor pages, a news feed, and podcasts with nowhere to live.

The before

A specialist software firm selling to two very different readers, asset managers on one side and brokers on the other, on a WordPress and Elementor site that gave both the same page. Twenty-four posts, sixteen press releases and twenty-eight podcast episodes, with no way to tell them apart or to find the ones about the product you were looking at.

What we did

We started with a mockup and a SWOT, so the second contract began from something Robin had already reviewed. Then the real build: Astro on Cloudflare Workers with Payload CMS behind it, so his team edits in a real editor and the site stays static and fast. Every one of the sixty-eight items was migrated at its original address with its own hero image. The Insights section filters by type and by audience, podcast pages carry Listen and Watch buttons and the transcript where there was one, and each of the ten product pages links to the writing about it. Each hub opens with a graphic of the product areas that Robin drew the first version of himself.

The result

The new site went live on castinellc.com on October 9. All sixty-eight articles and episodes kept their old addresses, and every old link a visitor could have found still lands on a page. The home page is 163 KB and scores 98 for performance on a mobile Lighthouse test, with 100 for accessibility and 100 for SEO. Castine’s team also got six short videos that walk them through the editor.

Client reviews · Upwork

In their words.

David was excellent! We are in the process of re-thinking and re-designing our company website to make it cleaner, easier for B2B clients to navigate to the proper information, make it faster, more stable, and easier to maintain. All goals were met, on-time and on-budget. David proposed different options at points in the process; they were spot-on and made for a better outcome. Recommend without hesitation.

Robin Hodgkins, President, Castine5.0 on Upwork

Excellent work process. The creation of my website went smoother than I anticipated. I’d work with David again.
