I built my first websites in high school, back when you earned a clean layout one tag at a time. In 1995 a mentor set me up with a business name, diceSYTE, and I spent the next several years building sites for local businesses. I was a member of the HTML Writers Guild when a group like that still set the bar for doing the work professionally.
Over time I drifted into other computer work, then deeper into IT and security, and that became the day job for a couple of decades. It still is, and it is why security is baked into everything I build. But I never really left the web. I kept helping people fix their WordPress sites, untangle problems, and take on small projects for friends and family.
The judgment is the part that took decades. The speed is new.
What brought diceSYTE back is simple. AI changed what one experienced person can do. The tooling I use now lets me deliver work that used to take a whole team, at a speed I couldn’t have offered before.
I’m not an agency. It’s me. That’s the point: you work with the person actually building your site, someone who has been at this long enough to tell good design from bad and still cares about getting it right.
