What we do, and how
Two kinds of appointment, one clinician per client, and a plan you agree to rather than one you are handed.
Individual therapy
Fifty-minute sessions by video, usually weekly to start. We work with adults who are managing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or a change that has knocked things sideways.
The approach is trauma-informed, which is a phrase that gets used loosely, so here is what we mean by it. We assume that difficult things may have happened to you. We do not require you to describe them before you are ready. We pay attention to pace, and we check in about it rather than assuming.
We draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and EMDR. Which of those we use depends on you, and we will explain the reasoning rather than just doing it.
Couples therapy
Seventy-five-minute sessions, both partners on the call. Longer than an individual session because two people need room to talk and there is still work to do afterward.
Most couples arrive with a version of the same problem: a conversation that never resolves and now has a groove worn into it. The early work is usually about slowing that conversation down enough to see what is underneath it.
We do not take sides and we will tell you if we think one of you is being treated unfairly. Those are not in conflict.
Being clear about what we do not do is part of the job.
Referring you correctly on the first call is better for you than three sessions that were never going to work.
What we do not treat
We do not provide:
- Emergency or crisis care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.
- Psychiatric medication. We do not prescribe. We can coordinate with a prescriber you already have.
- Court-ordered evaluations, custody evaluations, or disability assessments.
- Care for children and adolescents. We see adults, and couples where both partners are adults.
- Treatment for active substance dependence as a primary concern. We can refer.
If you are not sure whether you fit, the consultation is free and fifteen minutes. Ask us.
The practical parts
- Where
- By video, anywhere in New Hampshire. Therapist licensure is state-based, so we can only see clients who are physically in New Hampshire at the time of the session. That is a legal boundary, not a preference.
- When
- Weekdays, with a limited number of early morning and evening slots. Evenings fill first and stay full.
- How long
- Most people are with us for somewhere between three months and a year. Some stay longer, some come back later for a few sessions. None of that is decided in advance.
- What it costs
- Individual sessions are $185. Couples sessions are $250. Full fee schedule, including sliding scale.
